A little of this, and a little of that

Sometimes I wish I had just 1 thing I was great at. My friend Laura can paint, Jen is an awesome photographer, Joe is an interior design god, James can bake and the angels sing...me...I dabble in everything.
This past year has been a self discovery time for me. I just found out I'm a pretty good cook (and anyone who knows my hubby knows he's picky!)! I can still play the piano 10 years after quitting...very rusty though. I like to take pictures (maybe 10 out of 40 work). And I like to try to attempt to spruce up the home.
My new discovery....sewing. It started when I found my mom's old sewing machines. Then I took a beginners class downtown. The next thing you know I'm making tote bags, and PILLOWS etc. I don't think I'm good....just good enough to get by. Of course when you had a mom that kicked @$$ at sewing you really feel like an amateur :) When I was in school, the kids called me a liar when I said that my mom made my clothes...not soo fun when you are in elementary school! Even in high school they thought my homecoming dresses were from the mall.
But then I started thinking...it's nice to you can do a little of everything. I think my mom would be proud I am venturing out and trying new things :)
Oh, almost forgot, the blue couch with the white pillows are from Joe and James place. They are getting ready for the home tour this weekend (I get to be a room "host"). The brown one is for our master bedroom...lord knows when I will make the dust ruffle to match it!

Starting over and my love of clearance items!

Let, me first off start by saying...wow it has been too long since I last posted on this blog!

I am going to make a real effort to update this as much as possible with pictures (I love a little visual stimulation to break up a post).
So....here I go!
I love my sun room. My favorite room in our house. No, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of lets say the flat screen in the next room. I can't put my finger on it....maybe it's the light, or maybe the pool reflecting inside...I just love it for some reason (and hope to love it more when we landscape this spring).
What do I not like about the room was the darn, icky tile floor. Yes, it matches the front porch tile that is original to our 1930's home, but ugh....I don't like it.
Well thank goodness for Home Depot and it's clearance on indoor/outdoor rugs! This baby only cost me $30 big ones (originally $180)! Yup, you heard me right! I think it goes wonderful with the color of the room and the furniture too.
What do you think?
